Privacy Policy

Black Star Media & Entertainment ("Black Star Media", "we", "us" or "our") operates blackstarmedia.com.au (the "Site"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — including around cookies and advertising.

1. Information we collect

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Contact form. When you submit our contact form, your name, email address, subject and message are sent to us via Formspree, a third-party form-processing service.
  • Free downloads & the Suno PDF poster. When you enter your email address to receive a free resource, it is submitted to a Google Apps Script web app that we operate, recorded in a private Google Sheet, and used to send you the requested download link by email.
  • Downloads directory. The list of available PDF resources is read live from a Google Drive folder using the Google Drive API. Browsing this list does not itself send Google any information beyond a standard read-only API request made from your browser.
  • Automatically collected information. Like most websites, our hosting provider and third-party services (including Google, described below) may automatically log standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages and pages visited.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them, and allow selected third parties to use them, for the purposes described below. When you first visit the Site, a banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies; your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage.

  • Essential cookies/storage. Used to remember your cookie preference and for basic site functionality. These do not require consent.
  • Advertising cookies (Google AdSense). We use Google AdSense to display advertising on the Site. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Depending on your location, you can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu. 3. Embedded third-party content

Pages on this Site embed content from YouTube and Spotify. These providers may set their own cookies and collect data when you interact with an embedded player, in accordance with their own privacy policies (Google/YouTube, Spotify).

4. How we use your information

  • To respond to enquiries submitted through our contact form.
  • To deliver the free resources you request and, where you've opted in, send occasional related updates.
  • To operate, secure and improve the Site.
  • To display advertising, including personalised advertising where you have consented.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Who we share information with

We share information with the service providers that help us run the Site: Formspree (contact form), Google (Apps Script, Sheets, Drive API, and AdSense), and our hosting and DNS providers. Each acts as an independent controller or processor under its own privacy terms.

6. Data retention

We retain contact-form submissions and download email records for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, or until you ask us to delete them.

7. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you may ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR. To make a request, email contact@blackstarmedia.com.au.

8. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
